“The geopolitical reality of the Indo-Pacific perfectly represents a great power rivalry at the systemic level and also a perfect regional security complex”, wrote Shahana Thankachan, an scholar at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and consultant for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, in the latest issue of Global Affairs Journal. The Center for Global Affairs & Strategic Studies took the opportunity that she is currently researching at the University of Navarra to organize a webinar on the Indo-Pacific. 

Besides the Indian perspective, the round table offered the views from other actors specially involved in building a new security framework in the region: Japanese professor Kei Koga, a member of the Public Policy and Global Affairs Programme at the Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), and Brigadier General Michael Mahy, who served in the Australian Army and now works for the Synergy Group. 

Some European countries are looking intensively at the Indo-Pacific as well, and their movements were referred by Juan Luis López Aranguren, professor at the University of Zaragoza and conference speaker at the University of Navarra (he was the editor for the issue of Global Affairs Journal on the Indo-Pacific). Finally, the NATO’s perspective was given by Brigadier General Salvador Sánchez Tapia, professor of International Relations at the University of Navarra and board’s member of the Global Affairs Center.
