ICAAP: A New Supervisory Tool

Internal Capital Assessment Adequacy Process (ICAAP) is becoming an essential supervisory tool from Single Supervisor Mechanism (SSM). ICAAP will be an important source of information for decision process of Supervisors related to capital requirements. Every institution must have a process for assessing its capital adequacy relative to its risk profile.

ICAAP is more than an economic model, is a formal and systematic process to better identify, measure, aggregate and monitor risks; hold capital commensurate with these risks; and have systems in place to continuously monitor capital adequacy. The ICAAP is the responsibility of the institution, it should be tailored to the institution's circumstances and needs and it should form an integral part of the management process and decision-making culture of the institution.

The goal of the "ICAAP: a new supervisory tool" workshop is therefore to provide a forum of discussion among supervisors, regulators, financial institutions and academics.

This workshop is organized by the Master of Banking and Financial Regulation, Universidad de Navarra.
