Margarita del Val, CSIC virologist and one of the leading experts on the pandemic, is the cover story of the latest issue of Nuestro Tiempo, a magazine published by the University of Navarra. In an interview, Del Val addresses issues such as how the vaccines have been developed so quickly, whether new side effects to the vaccines may appear over time, and if herd immunity will finally be achieved.

Issue 711 of the university magazine also features Harvard professor Michael Sandel, author of the book The Tyranny of Merit, in a report that explores the limits of meritocracy. Pablo Pérez, Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Navarra, has written an article on the Spanish Transition; and award-winning artist Ana Teresa Ortega has contributed a photo-essay, whose images explore the impact of memory on the construction of the present. Two further articles analyze the functioning of presidential mandates in Africa and the situation in Bolivia after Evo Morales.

Telling the University’s story

Nuestro Tiempo magazine is also a communication channel between the University and its alumni. This issue includes a report on the origins of the Pamplona campus based on the recent book written by Carlos Soria; an interview with alumni and writer Laura Ferrero, and an article that explores the educational challenges facing the institution over the next five years within the 2025 Strategy.
