This section contains general information about the protection and use of intellectual property resulting from your research. If you do not encounter the information you need on this topic, contact the Dept. of Patents and Technology Offerings of the ICT.

One of the best ways to promote the profitability and social benefits of the results of university research is the Transfer of Research Results via Patent (TRIP). Non-patented research results are not generally of interest to business, and thus lose their commercial value.

The success of this form of technology transfer is based on correct management via methodologies to:

  • Identify those research results which have commercial value,
  • Evaluate their patentability and commercial potential,
  • Protect your results and obtain intellectual property rights (patents, models of use, industry design, etc.),
  • Search for and Identify potential commercial partners; and
  • Negotiate agreements for development and exploitation of the resulting intellectual property rights.

Activities involving TRIP imply working within the framework of a team. Although these activities are managed and coordinated by the ICT, they require an active participation on the part of the researchers.
