Drawing Architecture in Spain

Week 1. Barcelona-Pamplona-San Sebastian

Students will have the opportunity to see Barcelona, ​​the only city that has nine UNESCO World Heritage, many of them tied under the same name: the architect Antoni Gaudí, symbol of Modernism. From the solid walls of Santa Maria del Mar, passing for the magnificence of lush Palau de la Musica Catalana, to the modernity of the Torre Agbar. In addition, they will visit icon works of the architecture of Rafael Moneo in San Sebastián like the Kursaal or the church of Loiola.

Weeks 2 and 3. Bilbao-Madrid-Castilla y Leon and Andalucia

The program offers a unique opportunity to enter in the history of architecture, as students will visit the most representative cathedrals and monuments of different periods of architecture. This course is an opportunity to know of first hand the essential elements of spanish architecture and its artistic expression. Throughout the trip, participants will draw old buildings and its details, making an intensive course of historical drawing.

The tours by the historical Castilla and monumental Andalucia will be accompanied by theoretical lessons, which will discover to the participant the historical evolution of architecture in the European cultural context.

  • Week 1. Barcelona-Pamplona-San Sebastián

    • Sunday, May 20. Arrival in Barcelona and accommodation in Barcelona.

    • Monday 21. Barcelona: Cathedral of Barcelona and Gothic Quarter, Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila.

    • Tuesday 22. Barcelona: Parc Guell, Montjuic, Joan Miro Foundation, Mies Pavilion

    • Wednesday 23. Travel from Barcelona to Pamplona passing through Zaragoza. Zaragoza: La Seo (Cathedral of San Salvador), Palace of the Aljaferia, Basilica del Pilar, Foundation La Caixa (CaixaForum de Carme Pinos). Night in Pamplona (Mendebaldea Apartments)

    • Thursday 24. Classes at UNAV.

    • Friday 25. Travel to San Sebastian. Museum of San Telmo, Yacht Club, Kursaal, Church of Loiola.

    • Saturday 26. Free.

    • Sunday 27. Free.

  • Week 2. Bilbao-Madrid-Castilla y León

    • Monday 28. Classes at UNAV. Cathedral and visit to Pamplona.

    • Tuesday 29. Lessons at UNAV.

    • Wednesday 30. Bilbao. Bilbao: Guggenheim, Ribera del Nervion, Bilbao Airport. Visit to Marques de Riscal.

    • Thursday 31. Trip to Madrid - Contemporary architecture.

    • Friday 1. Toledo. Cathedral of Toledo, Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes, Synagogue of Transit (Sefardi Museum), and old synagogue of Santa Maria la Blanca, Hospital Museum of the Holy Cross.

    • Saturday 2. Free. Visit to Salamanca.

    • Sunday 3. Free

  • Week 3. Andalucia

    • Monday 4 and Tuesday 5. Cordoba
