Model2bio

Model2Bio (www.model2bio.eu) will develop a predictive model to help identify, select and reuse organic waste streams. The model will specifically cover stream composition, volume and transformation as well as logistics and business cases. Behind this EU-funded project are think-tanks, research centers, technology developers, universities, industry (mainly small and medium-sized businesses) and clusters from Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Greece, Poland and Germany. The project started in May 2020 and will run until April 2023. This project has received funding from the Bio Based Industries Joint Undertaking (JU) under grant agreement No 887191. The JU receives support from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and the Bio Based Industries Consortium.

The Urban Klima 2050 project has been approved by the European Union within the area of integrated climate change mitigation and/or adaptation projects. It is a major integrated Life project:

  • 6 years of duration

  • 19.8 million in direct investment (10.2 million from the EU)

  • 20 partner entities

  • 40 concrete actions

The main objective is to deploy the Klima 2050 strategy in the Basque Country and it was created with the intention that this model could be replicated in other regions of the European Union.

The specific objectives are:

  1. To integrate the Climate Change Strategy into territorial planning and sectoral policies (health, water and energy).

  2. To implement actions in three pilot areas: on the coast, in river basins and in urban areas.

  3. Implement the 24 lines of action of the Climate 2050 Strategy.

  4. Improve governance in the field of climate change.

  5. Transfer the case studies developed in the project to other areas of the territory and other regions.

 

 

The LIFE MCUBO Project is a European project within the framework of the LIFE 2015 call, with a demonstrative character. The LIFE MCUBO project is addressed to the priority area of Environment and Resource Efficiency and  Water as  the priority theme. The main objective of the LIFE MCUBO project is to reduce the environmental impact associated with water management in the 3 subsectors that consume the most water in the food industry (meat, vegetable preserves and soft drinks). The results are achieved through the effective demonstration in 3 industrial plants of an integrated management system based on Measurement, Mathematical Modelling of the production and water treatment processes and Continuous Improvement based on the participation of the company's workers. Some of the proposed improvements have been validated in a pilot plant.

The project EcoPYME, Assimilation of Circular Economy by SMEs, DPI2015-LIFE15 ENV/ES/000379 70832-R (MINECO/FEDER) is which is sponsored by the Spanish National Program for Fostering Excellence in Scientific and Technical Research and The European Regional Development. The main objective of the project is the development of a guide for integrating the principles of Circular Economy in SMEs. The project aims to encourage companies to adopt the pillars of CE, based on eco-design, functional economy, industrial ecology and longer usage time (repair or reuse). For this purpose, the guide ECoPYME includes a diagnosis tool, techniques and tools for integration of the CE principles by the SMEs according to its business activity and processes. A collaborative web platform has been also developed (www.circularmarket.es).

CircularTRANS is a project financed by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa within the programme of “competitive strengthening”. The objective is to diagnose the current situation of organisations in relation to the principles and strategies of the Circular Economy. The result will be a digital platform that guides the transition of industrial organizations towards a model of Circular Economy in Gipuzkoa. The project team is made up of researchers from Mondragon University (leaders of the project), Tecnun-Universidad de Navarra and different regional associations.

The Bateratzen project, financed by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, develops tools and practical knowledge to help organizations to align the potential of people for the benefit of a common project. The work team is made up of researchers from the University of Mondragon (leaders of the project), Tecnun-University of Navarra, University of the Basque Country, Orkestra of the University of Deusto, the Mondragon Corporation and the Association of Machine Tool Manufacturers (AFM). After almost 10 years of joint work we have generated a multilevel and longitudinal data observatory, with more than 500 organisations evaluated.
