The University of Navarra, first in Spain in Accountancy and Finance, Nursing and Communication according to the QS World University Rankings by subject

QS rankings measures academic reputation, research impact and employability of over 1,400 world universities

The University of Navarra is the top university in Spain in Accountancy and Finance, Nursing and Communication and Media Studies according to the QS World University rankings by subject 2021.  Also, the University is second in Spain in Philosophy, Medicine and Business and Management Studies.

The ranking which evaluated 1,453 universities from all over the world also ranked the University of Navarra in the top 100 universities in Business and Management (25), Accountancy and Finance (45), Philosophy (51-100) Nursing (51-100) and Communication and Media Studies (51-100).

The QS World University Rankings by subject includes 5 broad subject areas: Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences and Management.  In Social Sciences and Management the University is ranked 71 in the world.  Within these subject areas, the ranking covers a total of 51 disciplines, within which the university is ranked in 15.  This year for the first time, the University is ranked in Psychology, achieving 7th position in Spain and ranked 251-300 in the world.  It also features among the top 10 universities in Spain in Architecture (4), Law (5), Economics and Econometrics (5), Pharmacy and Pharmacology (6) and Art and Design (7). 

QS uses four components to rank universities in this ranking: Academic and employer reputation, Research citations by index and H-index, which measures productivity and impact of researchers.   

The first two indicators of reputation academic and employer reputation drew on responses from over 100,000 academics and 50,000 employers.  The citation and H index indicators draw their information from the database Scopus, after analysis of 13.9 million articles and nearly 81 million citations. In Spain, 34 universities featured in the ranking. 

According to the Vice President of International Relations, María Pilar Lostao, 

“We are satisfied with the QS ranking which centers on areas, which recognize the broad academic spectrum in which the University researches and teaches, from the Humanities, the Social Sciences to the Engineering and Medicine”. Furthermore, according to Lostao, “the improvement reflected in recent years encourages us to continue our effort in research and further improve the impact of our researchers' work”
