Early Modern Political Theology

The objective of this project is to study the philosophical and juridical influence of early modern theological-political texts in the early modern and modern revolutionary eras and the consequences for human existence and Weltanschauung.

To achieve this aim, the project seeks to establish a dialogue between different disciplines –philosophy, theology, history and law- in order to analyze the relationships between religion, science, and politics in the early modern period, starting with its medieval foundations. The consolidation of these relationships and the resulting tension between them, helped shape the concept of modern liberty and, as a result, made an impact on the revolutionary eras in America, Europe and Asia.
