E(f)FECTS (Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy): A randomized clinical trial in Mexico, Spain, Guatemala and Argentina
The University of Navarra, in collaboration with Brigham Young University (BYU) in the United States, will launch the first randomized clinical trial of emotionally focused therapy in Spanish-speaking countries.
Dr. Susan Johnson (University of Ottawa, Canada) developed emotionally focused couple’s therapy, which has broad empirical support through clinical trials conducted with American and Canadian couples. However, it has not been tested on Spanish-speaking couples.
The study will take place in Spain, Mexico, Guatemala and Argentina. The contributors include more than 20 therapists and supervisors from ten different countries, and a research team consisting of professors and researchers from five universities located in three countries: Spain, Canada and the United States.
