E(f)FECTS (Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy in Spanish): A randomized clinical trial in Spanish speaking countries


Proyecto E(f)FECTS (Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy in Spanish): un ensayo clínico aleatorizado en México, España, Guatemala y Argentina

The University of Navarra, in collaboration with Brigham Young University (BYU) in the United States, launch the first randomized clinical trial of emotionally focused therapy in Spanish-speaking countries.

Dr. Susan Johnson (University of Ottawa, Canada) developed emotionally focused couple’s therapy, which has broad empirical support through clinical trials conducted with American and Canadian couples. However, it has not been tested on Spanish-speaking couples.

The study take place in Spain, Mexico, Guatemala, Argentina and Costa Rica. The contributors include 15 therapists and ten supervisors from 11 different countries, and a research team consisting of professors and researchers from five universities located in three countries: Spain, Canada and the United States.
