Letter from the Dean
Welcome to the School of Nursing at the University of Navarra.
At this School we are committed to training students to become nurses with a comprehensive academic and humanistic education. I invite you to form part of our student body and to obtain the knowledge you need to transform the field of nursing, both in Spain and abroad.
Today we are living in an exciting period for the nursing profession, and these are excellent times for the University of Navarra School of Nursing. Society demands that nurses provide new forms of healthcare. At the same time, advances in nursing education are creating new opportunities to make progress and improve patient care.
The School is characterized by its drive to carry out research, teaching and practice in the field of nursing. Its Degree in Nursing is considered one of the best in Spain. It also offers one master´s degree program: The Master´s Degree in Advanced Nursing Practice. In addition, in 2011 it launched its Doctoral Degree Program in Nursing Science. In all its programs it stresses teaching of the science of nursing and the importance of nursing care in today's world.
All our full-time faculty members have doctoral degrees and are committed to developing knowledge in nursing and transforming healthcare. In addition, many of them are specialists in their clinical fields. This enables them to offer high-quality teaching.
The challenges of healthcare continue to grow, and the profession needs leaders now more than ever. In today's healthcare system, nurses must be critical leaders and, together with other healthcare professionals, must serve as drivers of change. Greater emphasis must be placed on prevention, care for people suffering from chronic diseases, cultural competence and the provision of high-quality care. Nurses must also have a positive influence on healthcare policies. With an awareness of this context, the School of Nursing makes every effort to train students to become nurses who are capable of addressing these needs and caring for individuals as whole persons. Because our students are prepared in this way, they can work in national and international contexts and have excellent employment prospects.
I am delighted to know that you are considering the possibility of joining us along the path to Nursing. People and society need nurses who can provide them the healthcare they deserve. Join us and learn how you can address this need.
