International Dimension

Since its early days, the School of Communication has had an intense international outlook.  Since those early years, it has always attracted students from a wide variety of places and an academic staff that is always active in the main international forums and associations in the area of communication. In this way, reflection about the nature of Communication and the profession of communicator has always enjoyed the richness of being approached from multiple perspectives.

Furthermore, the School, in keeping with the spirit of entrepreneurship and openness to the world that characterize it, is always attentive to the new educational challenges in the field of communication so that it can respond to them with quality and excellence. Thus, it has been a pioneer in Spain in offering a special program responding to the new needs of communication in a global world: the International Media Program, a program whose aim is to train students to become communication professionals with a global and distinctly international perspective.

The International Office is where the international strategy of the School of Communication is devised, developed and implemented. We assist international students and professors who pass through our classrooms, we support our students who are interested in gaining an experience living abroad that will undoubtedly change their perception of the world, their world and the field of communication, and we establish new relationships with foreign universities and businesses that will only serve to strengthen the presence of the School of Communication around the world.

  • Over 75 educational partnership agreements have been established with universities around the five continents: America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania.

  • North American and European professors contribute to ordinary teaching. Furthermore, seminars are organized with communication professionals from Europe and the United States.

  • Prominent presence of professors in international institutions and associations:

    • Europe-Hollywood

    • Society of Cinema and Media Studies

    • Society for News Design

    • Deutsche Welle International Weblog Awards

    • World Association for Public Opinion Research

    • European Foundation for Commercial Communications Education

    • Network for European Cinema and Media Studies

    • International Association for Media and Communication Research

    • European Communication Research and Education Association

  • Each year, the School of Communication hosts the Infographic World Summit.

Since the establishment of the Erasmus program, the School of Communication has participated in this European project by signing partnership agreements with different universities throughout the continent. Together with this, the School has signed partnership agreements with many universities in the Americas and Asia.

Currently, the School of Communication offers its students the opportunity to study one semester or a full year of their degree program at European universities (Germany, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Norway, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden and United Kingdom), universities in the Americas (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, the United States and Canada), Asian universities (China, the Philippines, South Korea and Singapore), in Oceania (Australia) and in Africa (South Africa).

When they return, students receive academic recognition for their studies overseas. Along with this, the experience of studying overseas makes it easier for students to enter a job market that is increasingly internationalized.

The purpose of the School of Communication's Office of Exchange Programs is to inform students about the requirements and administrative steps needed to be eligible for one of these places in the exchange program. It also addresses the financial aspect of travel, providing information about available scholarships and financial aid. Finally, the Office also takes care of recognizing studies completed overseas.
