El Club de la Ciencia

Description of activity

During the 2019-2020 academic year, a select group of students in the last year of high school will have the opportunity to register for an activity that will enhance their science education with an exclusive program of practicals and science dissemination sessions.

The Science Club runs throughout the academic year. The selected students will meet on seven Wednesdays throughout the year, from 18:00 to 19:00. Each session, led by a researcher of renowned prestige, will be on a branch of science. The sessions will have practical content and encourage students to reflect on the importance of the different branches of scientific knowledge. The School of Sciences will provide participants with the required materials, as well as the proper protective measures for each of the science experiments.

Places are limited: 25 on-campus and distance-learning format (the latter are reserved for students who do not reside in Navarre). In both cases, the criterion for earning a place will be the student's average grade in the third year of high school.

Students who join in the distance-learning format will be able to access videos of the sessions one week after they are recorded and will be able to ask the researchers questions via email to the Promotions Officer in School of Sciences (Santiago Caireta). Examples of sessions from the 2012-2013 graduating class can be seen in the Video Gallery section.

All students who participate will receive the corresponding diploma and will have the opportunity to complete a highly practical program at the University of Navarra (see conditions in the subsection titled "Recognition").
