Upcoming sessions of the II Ethics and Society Forum
Coordinated by the researcher David Thunder in collaboration with the ICS, this forum proposes to promote dialogue among researchers, professors and postgraduate students from all disciplines, in particular those within humanities and social sciences
In the second semester of the course 2013-2014, five sessions of the II Ethics and Society Forum are planned. This forum is open to researchers, professors, and postgraduate students throughout the entire campus and its aim is to address questions relative to improving life in common and society, from an ethical perspective as well as a legal standpoint. This forum has been organized by the researcher, David Thunder, in collaboration with the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS).
On January 21, Alejandro Llano, full professor of Metaphysics, will offer the session, "the University in a time of change". Ana Marta González, professor of Moral Philosophy and academic coordinator of ICS, will act as discussant.
Juan Pablo Viola, doctorate student in the department of Philosophy will speak regarding "Think subjectivity in another way: an approach to Levinas' philosophy" on February 18.
John Perry, lecturer of Theological Ethics of the University of St Andrew's will give the conference, "John Locke's Turn to Loyalty: The Origins and Ongoing Problems of Religious Freedom" on March 5.
"Politics and Conscience: Three Foundations in Thomas Aquinas' Theory of Conscience" will be the title of the talk given by Ángela Miceli, researcher for the ICS project, "Religion and civil society" of It will be held on March 18.
The last session planned of this forum is titled, "Religion and Politics" in Hegel's Philosophy". The conference will take place on April 8.
The objective of the Ethics and Society Forum is triple: it proposes to act as the vehicle for disseminating the work carried out by ICS throughout the entire university community, to promote interdisciplinary dialogue and to help ICS researchers obtain feedback from other experts regarding the work they are developing. During the first semester of the academic course 2013-2014, four sessions were organized.
