About 50 researchers participate in a workshop organized by the University of Navarra in hopes of attracting international talent

The workshop aimed to provide guidance on the Marie Curie Sklodowska Curie Action Individual Fellowships (MSCA IF 2017), one of the most competitive and prestigious programs in the European Commission.

Participants included ten candidates from centers in Germany, Canada, Ecuador, Finland, Holland, Italy and the Czech Republic. They are working on applications for the program that, if successful, would place them at the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS), the University’s humanities and social sciences research center. During their visit, they were able to meet their prospective supervisors and get to know the Institute.

Pilar Lostao, the University’s Vice-President for International Relations, welcomed the participants. Later, Ana Marta González, ICS’s Scientific Coordinator, and Javier Díez, Director of the Program on Cardiovascular Diseases at the Center for Applied Medical Research (CIMA), also participated. In addition, Jesús Rojo, one of the MSCA’s national points of contact and a member of the Madri+d Foundation for Knowledge (Fundación Madri+d para el Conocimiento), offered an open session.

Activities included a roundtable discussion with Marie Curie evaluators and researchers who have received the grant in the past, presentations from the candidates, and group work sessions.

This marks the second year that the workshop has been offered at the University. After last year’s workshop, two participating candidates were awarded Marie Curie fellowships to work at ICS, including Marco Demichelis, who joined the Religion and Civil Society project, and Sarali Ginstburg, who will join the Public Discourse project in August 2017.
