Alejandro Martínez Carrasco, researcher at the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) and professor at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Navarra, makes a stay at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Vienna. This research period began on July 6th and will run until October 31st.
The aim is to deepen into the thinking of Martin Heidegger and Eugen Fink, particularly around the concept of ‘game' "as a way of entering the study of some important insights in order to understand how these authors and later authors from the phenomenological-hermeneutics tradition developed the notions of rationality and worldliness," he explained.
Four stays in Austria and GermanyWhile doing his thesis Alejandro Martínez made three stays in Austria and Germany but this one is the first stay carried out since he had his Ph.D. "I was at the University of Vienna a few years ago and I knew the professor with whom I came to work, Günther Pöltner, who encouraged me to go back. This is a prestigious center and, in addition, there are other experts on issues that I'm interested in," he said.
Regarding the experience he positively highlighted that "time and quietness to study and research" allows him to "make better progress" in his own work. He also pointed out the enrichment that implies "discovering other countries, universities, professors from different cultural backgrounds… it's a good way to broaden and share experiences."
Alejandro Martínez Carrasco is a researcher in the Project of ‘Religion and Civil Society' of the Institute for Culture and Society and a professor at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Navarra. Additionally, he is part of the organizing committee of the Navarra Philosophy Olympiad and the Spanish Philosophical Olympiad. In 2010 he received the prize of the Real Academia de España (Humanities) for his thesis Dos soluciones a un problema común: Eugenio d'Ors y Ortega y Gasset.
