“Truth, freedom and work. Pursue the values that this University has taught you”
Asunción Gómiz, the keynote speaker at the School’s graduation ceremony for the 12th graduating class

On 3 June 2017, the 162 final-year School of Economics students attended their graduation ceremony at Museum University of Navarra. Professors Asunción Gómiz and Jesús Pajares were the keynote speakers at the ceremony for the 12th double-degree graduating class and the 27th single-degree graduating class, respectively.
Professor Gómiz reminded the students about the struggle for “truth, freedom and work”, values that the University has tried to instil in students during their time at University. Jesús Pajares shared some guidelines for entering the world of work, such as how to treat others and personal appearance.
Ignacio Ferrero, the Dean of the School, showed his appreciation to the students’ parents, and encouraged the students to continue learning while reminding them that work is an opportunity to “serve society” and achieve “personal fulfilment”.
In their speeches for the graduates and family members, the delegates from each graduating class looked back over their time at the University and expressed their appreciation for all the services they had received, including everything from “Sara Montes’s notes” to the “kindness shown by librarian Jacinta Luna”. They also thanked the School for all the opportunities that they had been given, such as the two exchanges, the Case Competition Club and the IESE Programme.
The ceremony ended with a mass and the participation of the Vía La Plata y Amigos pilgrim’s choir conducted by fourth-year Economics student Francisco Carrión. Ricardo Gómez Barredo, the director of Accounting and Supervisory Relations at the BBVA Group, gave the honorary Rafael Termes lecture on the future of banking, in which he discussed how the banking industry is transitioning into the fourth industrial revolution.
