ICS announces the inclusion of new international researchers Daniel Moulin (Britain) and Alex Armand (Italy)
Moulin obtained his PhD from Oxford and completed a postdoctoral stay in Geneva, while Armand hails from University College London and the Institute for Fiscal Studies
The Institute for Culture and Society, a research center dedicated to the Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Navarra, welcomes two new researchers during the 2014-2015 academic year. Daniel Moulin, PhD from the University of Oxford, joins the Religion and Civil Society project; Alex Armand, PhD from University College London, joins the Navarra Center for International Development (NCID).
Daniel Moulin comes to ICS already having completed a postdoctoral stay at the University of Geneva (Switzerland). His research focuses on the philosophy of education, spirituality, intercultural education and religion. His latest book, Leo Tolstoy, was published by Bloomsbury in 2011. Between 2011 and 2013 he was director of the Somerville College Chapel in the United Kingdom.
Alex Armand, for his part, is an economist that specializes in development and microeconomics. Before joining the NCID team, he was visiting researcher at the Institute for Fiscal Studies. His most recent research focuses on the effects of Conditional Cash Transfers.
ICS's collaborating researchers and new doctoral studentsRocío Davis will combine her research activities within the Emotional Culture and Identity project with teaching activities within the Philology Department. Ruth Breeze will dedicate part of her time to the Public Discourse project, as well as serve as a professor within the Navarra Language Institute. Meanwhile, Cristina López del Burgo will join the Education of Human Affectivity and Sexuality project while maintaining her responsibilities as professor and researcher within the School of Medicine.
The ATLANTES program will incorporate new visiting researchers, including Carole Robinson, from the University of British Columbia (Canada), and Nunziata Comoretto, from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (Italy). In addition, David Clark, director of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Glasgow (UK), will join as a visiting professor.
In addition, Sergio Daga, a Bolivian native, will begin a doctoral thesis within the NCID, while the project will also incorporate new research assistants, including Thomas Roque from the Philipines and Paul Atwell from the United States. Irene Garcia will begin her doctoral thesis within the ATLANTES project, as will José Víctor Orón within the Mind-Brain project.
Other newsJosé María Torralba, researcher in both the Natural Law and Practical Rationality and Emotional Culture and Identity projects, will focus on his work as director of the Institute of Anthropology and Ethics and as professor and researcher in the Philosophy department.
Erick Jimenez has returned to the United States after a year as a post-doctoral fellow within the Natural Law and Practical Rationality project. Carlos Blanco, former Mind-Brain Group research fellow, has joined the Pontifical University of Comillas and Alvaro Morcillo (of the NCID project) will complete a research stay at the University of Oxford. For his part, Juan Pablo Domínguez, Religion and Civil Society research fellow, will complete research stays at various academic centers, including Yale University.
NCID research assistants Hector Cárcel, Pierce King and Gabriela de la Oliva have concluded their time at ICS, while Religion and Civil Society PhD student Cecilia Coronado will finish her thesis from the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico.
