Resumen:
A review of indentation contact fracture is given ranging from that resulting from pressure and percussion flaking of flint by early man to that produced by various shaped indentors on glasses and ceramics. A recent application is described of controlled damage by nanoindentation on initially defect free silicon wafer samples.
