Erken Moderniteden Günümüze Liberalizm / Cumhuriyetçilik K¿skac¿nda Birey-Devlet ¿li¿kileri

Resumen:
This article focuses on the position of individual vis a vis political power within the context of two main stream approaches in the history of political philosophy: liberal and republican approaches. First of all, theories of Locke and Rousseau, which are still influential on the conceptions of modern state, are elaborated. In order to understand the theoretical attempts for merging these models coherently, the second part of the article discusses the theory of Kant who profoundly affects today's European political thought and practice, and the distinctive approach developed by Habermas who is one of the most significant figures in the current legal and political thinking.
