Summer 2020 Online

Improve your proficiency in Spanish, experience Spanish culture, develop critical thinking skills and work on your writing abilities in Spanish. You can complete one semester of Spanish study with our SUMMER 2020 ONLINE, or transfer credits for general education or elective requirements. We offer beginning, intermediate and advanced level classes. 

Medium size of class is 12 students. Each class has a Prof. and a TA.

Students take a placement diagnostic exam online . 

Possibility of taking an official Spanish Certification Exam.

Community Engagement in Pamplona – May 18th to June 19th (6 ECTS, 3 credits)

Help the community and earn credit by adding the five week course Community Engagement in Pamplona beginning from May 18th and ending June 19th. The first two weeks students will have class full time in the mornings and service learning some evenings. The following three weeks students will have class and service learning some afternoons.

This course is designed to be combined with Español: Comunicación y cultura course (June).

Different activities in the city and a weekend trip to Madrid. 

*Language Prerequisite: at least two semesters of Spanish.

Español: Comunicación y cultura – June 1st to 19th (6 ECTS, 3 credits)

Improve your proficiency in Spanish, experience Spanish culture, develop critical thinking skills and work on your writing abilities in Spanish. You can complete one semester of Spanish study with our June Intensive Spanish Language and Culture Program, or transfer credits for general education or elective requirements. We offer beginning, intermediate and advanced level classes. 
Medium size of class is 12 students. Each class has a Prof. and a TA.

Students take a placement diagnostic exam online prior to arrival. All cultural activities, tours and excursions are specially selected to complement and expand the know-how acquired during the class.

The following trips and activities in and around Pamplona are included in the program fee: 

- Day Trip to Bilbao and San Juan de Gaztelugatxe
- Day Trip to San Sebastián
- Excursion to Olite Castle
- Guided visit of winery from the DO Navarra
- Pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago
- Rumba Flamenca Workshop
- Kayaking
- Cathedral of Santa Maria la Real

The Business of Wine and Gastronomy in Northern Spain - June 22nd to July 3rd (6 ECTS, 3 credits) 

This course provides an experiential learning perspective on the connection between gastronomy, cultural landscapes, and business development of the Spanish Gastronomy and Wine Industry in Northern Spain. Throughout the course students will focus on how cultural identities, geographical location, and brand development affect one of the most prominent and characteristic businesses in Northern Spain. Students will travel together examine specific business and cultural sites and study current trends and practices in the businesses, and reflect on their unique features.

Some of the visits included in the course are guided visit of winery from the DO Navarra, guided visit to winery Marqués de Riscal, trip to San Sebastián, Pamplona Sweets&Coffe Tour, and Juevintxo. 

*Language Prerequisite:  As the course will be conducted in English, an advanced level of the language is required (B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages or Advanced High in American Council of The Teaching of Foreign Languages, or equivalent).
