Diploma in Surgery

The Diploma in Surgery is a separate qualification complementary to a Medical Degree. The objective of the diploma is to enable students to begin a professional career in surgery with greater confidence and competence.

Medical specialties with surgical content are of two types:

1) Surgical specialties: general surgery and surgery of the digestive system, orthopedic surgery and traumatology, neurosurgery, plastic and reparatory surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, pediatric surgery, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery.

2) Medical-surgical specialties: urology, gynecology and obstetrics, dermatology, ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology.

For this reason, the diploma provides for:

  • Subjects involving practical and theoretical surgery, all are electives of the medical degree.

  • Specific training in the Simulation Centre, the laboratories of the faculty, and the surgery rooms of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra by means of subjects focussed on surgical techniques.
