The Second International Workshop of the University of Navarra’s project on Researching and Promoting Character Education in Latin America Secondary Schools will be held on December 1-2, 2016 at the Universidad Panamericana (Mexico City).

The School of Education and Psychology (specifically, the Research Group on Education, Citizenship and Character) and the Institute for Culture and Society at the University of Navarra will co-organize the workshop, which is also financed by the Templeton World Charity Foundation.

Participants include 25 specialists, including academics, practitioners at educational institutions and policy makers.

The workshop aims to reflect on the nature of and initiatives within character education in the world and create a forum for debate on education policies in the three countries that the project studies, namely Mexico, Argentina and Colombia.

On the first day, Concepción Naval, the project director, will provide an overview of the team’s mission and goals. Subsequently, researcher Daniel Moulin will focus on the formation of identity through character education. Experts from Mexico, Argentina and Colombia will then give presentations on the educational systems in their countries.

The next day, researchers Angel Sobrino and Apolinar G. Varela will present the results from their Delphi questionnaires and, together with Juan Pablo Dabdoub, will explain the cases to be addressed in their fieldwork. The workshop will close with a panel on educational practices and a discussion moderated by Aurora Bernal.
