International Program in Medicine Celebrates Second Edition Year
Dr. Bret A. Nicks from Wake Forest University and Dr. Héctor Robles from Mayo Clinic gathered for the opening joined the event ceremonies of the second year of the International Program in Medicine at at the University of Navarra.

"Global health is not about looking internally. It is about looking broadly and understanding your environment", said remarked Dr.octor Bret A. Nicks from Wake Forest University during his remarksduring his opening speech. at the opening of the second edition of the International Program in Medicine of the University of Navarra. Doctor Dr. Bret A. Nicks, International Relations vicedeanVice Dean at Wake Forest, talked spoke about Global Health.
Doctor Dr. Héctor Robles from Mayo Clinic, a co-founder of the International Program, promotion´s godfather, also participated in the session.
"There are no bounds. We all face the same problems. I want to challenge you on understanding that global health is Spain´s health. People travel by plane everyday and before you notice they start a disease process in the US,", highlighted the expert. "A child infected with aids in Africa that ends up being a street child brings up the same issues as a homeless person in Europe. How are we going to solve this? Obesity is usually seen as problem from rich countries but it also affects developing countries that don't have the means to take care of their lifestyles", he added.
Doctor Breat A. Nicks, a member of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH), said to the students: "Great ideas come from everywhere., Ssome of you in this room will change the entire perspective of health in Spain, because of something you think in the back of your mind that is not important. Our job is to help you move forward.".
Now with more than 100 students in the International Program, During the second edition of the program, that has more than 100 students, doctor Robles from Mayo Clinic explained his availability for to the students and asked them to think about who they are, who are are their mentors and what are are their professional and personal goals.
The International Program in Medicine was created with the purpose of educating doctors with in a wider international vision and greater analysis skills, having English as its main learning language. Students can have worldwide clinical rotations in top hospitals and study core subjects through the "Clinical Problem Solving" taught by English and American doctors.
