School of Medicine to start new Immuno-Oncology course in Madrid
25 oncology specialists joined the program supported by BMS
School of Medicine has launched "Certificate in Immune-Oncology" program that will be taught in Madrid to 25 oncology specialists. Bristol-Myers Squibben pharmaceutical company supports the activity whose goal is to train specialists on cancer immunotherapy.
The program is formed by six modules: "Immunology Fundamentals", "Immunotherapy cancer strategies", "Immunology and Melanoma", "Immunology and Lung Cancer", among others. Each module contains face-to-face classes at the urban campus of the University of Navarra in Madrid and an online essay.
Immunotherapy is one of the breakthrough treatments that have been discovered to fight cancer. It works by activating body defenses against the disease. Currently, new treatments study how the immunological system can be enhanced and have found encouraging results in treating various types of cancer.
