The Universidad de Navarra launches the UNAV Journal for Medical Students
A new publication aimed at both doctoral students and young researchers of the biomedical field.
The School of Medicine of the Universidad de Navarra has started the UNAV Journal for Medical Students. It is a new publication aimed at both doctoral students and young researchers of the biomedical field and attempts to provide a platform to venture into the world of research and scientific publications. At the moment it is the first initiative of its kind in a Spanish university.
Dr. Ana Patiño, director of the publication and head of the Clinical Genetics Unit at the Clinic of the Universidad de Navarra, underscores that the Journal intends to strengthen the interest of researchers and also between medical students.
"After all, medicine and research are the same thing. Curiosity didn't just kill the cat, but rather meant the creation of an enormous quantity of knowledge about the human being, our health and world diseases," highlighted the doctor.
The journal, which will combine a version online and on paper, will accept original papers, reviews, clinical cases, highlights, invited columnists and short letters. Also, it will include commentaries about new applications, web pages or any other interesting information. The UNAV Journal for Medical Students will be edited entirely in English and will have two issues each year at first, but the goal will be to reach four issues per year.
The first issue of the UNAV Journal for Medical Students will include an editorial written by the Dean of the School, Dr. Secundino Fernández. It will also include three orgiinal articles from teachers and doctors of the Clinic of the University of Navarra, including Mónica Morán, Rafael Llombart and Sebastián Cruz on issues related to Obstetrics and Traumatology. It will also include a "review" of melanoma and other research papers published in specialized journals such as Jama and The New England Journal of Medicine, among others.
