Natural law and practical rationality
Alejandro G. Vigo participated from the 18th to the 21st May as an invited speaker at Humboldt-Kolleg 'Die mittelalterliche Auffassung von Ethik und Natur und ihre Rezeption in der europäischen und lateinamerikanischen Philosophie / The Medieval Conception of Ethics and Nature, and its Reception in the European and Latin American Philosophy' organized by the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and the Universidad de los Andes (Chile), with financial support from the Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung (Bonn, Germany). He gave also two conferences for the Faculty of Philosophy of the University Alberto Hurtado (Chile. One of them was entitled ‘Kant y la fundamentación estoica de la moralidad' (May 23) and the other one, ‘Aristóteles y Kant, en torno al origen de la cualidad moral de la acción' (May 26). Moreover, he lectured as invited speaker at the IV Vallendarer Kolloquium zur Geschichte der Philosophie 'Geschichtlich(keit) denken. Philosophische und theologische Herausforderungen' (Vallendar, Alemania, 29-31 de mayo). The title of his speech was ‘Erfahrung, Objektivität, Geschichte. Heidegger und die kantische Analytik der Grundsätze'.
Mariano Crespo participated in the seminar 'Phenomenology and Education', organized by the Spanish Society for Phenomenology, of which he is a member. It took place at the UNED headquarters in Madrid on May 10.
Nathaniel Barret presented the paper Religion as Intrinsically Motivated Activity: A Proposal for Interdisciplinary Investigation at the Congress ‘Cognitive Science, Philosophy and Theology', celebrated at Oxford University on May 9-11 May. He also presented the paper The Normative Turn in Enactive Theory at the symposium ‘Varieties of Enactivism: A Conceptual Geography', organized as part of the 50th Annual Convention of the Society for the Study of Artificial Intelligence and the Simulation of Behavior (the AISB) on April 4. It was held at Goldsmiths, University of London.
