@digitalunav - Center for Internet Studies and Digital Life was set up in September 2013 and is affiliated with the School of Communication at the University of Navarra; its mission is to foster research on the forms and impact of digital activity in the complex, changing field of communication. The establishment of @digitalunav is another milestone in the School's academic history, in which online media have been addressed through both teaching and research activities since the Internet's emergence as a global medium.
Over 30 people currently work in @digitalunav - Center for Internet Studies and Digital Life, which comprises three areas: People, Contents and Companies. Each area encompasses a number of fields of research, such as the use of social networks, online journalism, interactive advertising, new business models for communications companies, and the impact of the Internet on electoral campaigns, civic movements, etc.

These scholars take part in the activities of @digitalunav and are encouraged to actively participate in our research work throughout their stay. Through discussions, seminars, lectures and other events, visiting researchers may exchange views with our team of researchers, directors and partners of @digitalunav to get to know different research perspectives and to actively network with the research community.
Candidates interested in joining us as visiting researchers may apply at any time. As a Visiting Researchers you will be put in touch with a researcher who can mentor you during your stay here. No salary is paid by @digitalunav for these appointments.

Digital News Report
As partner of Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism (University of Oxford), since 2014 the Center is responsible for the design and analysis of the Digital News Report in Spain. This annual report is the biggest study about the trends of digital news consumption worldwide. Along with contributing to the global project, the Center publishes annually a more detailed national report about Spain:

El proyecto RRSSalud (2020-2022) investiga la tipología y las dinámicas de diseminación de las noticias falsas sobre salud en las redes sociales en España, con el fin de entender las claves y mecanismos de difusión de esos contenidos en internet.

JOLT project
JOLT is investigating how to harness digital and data technology for journalism. Through the work of 14 PhD projects & 2 research projects, it will deliver new theoretical insights, technical advancements, and best-practice guidelines for journalism and the news industry. JOLT brings together researchers from multiple disciplines – journalism, communication, data science, computer science, electronic engineering – and works with academic and industry partners across the EU. JOLT is a Marie-Skłodowska-Curie European Training Network funded by the European Commission.
