Presentation

The Doctoral Program in Theology: Theology and the Modern World prepares students to teach in ecclesiastical Faculties and Universities, as well as in Institutes of Religious Sciences. It also prepares students to work as censor and consultant in different theological subjects in particular churches, episcopal conferences, religious orders and other institutes of consecrated life.

To access the Doctoral Cycle, it is necessary to be in possession of the degree of Licentiate in Theology (STL) with a high degree of achievement.

The doctoral thesis is an original research work to be defended before a panel of judges, which represents an original and valid contribution to scientific knowledge within the theological field and predisposes for further research in the same referential framework or in the field of Humanities. Obtaining a Doctorate shows the degree of maturity achieved by the student in the methodology and development of scientific work in the coordinates of the ecclesiastical sciences.

The Program of "Doctorate in Theology: Theology and the present world" contemplates the possibility of obtaining an International Mention in the title of Doctor.

The effective obtaining of the title of Doctor requires that the Doctoral Thesis be published, at least in its substantial part (the Faculty facilitates the fulfillment of this requirement through the possibility of publishing - with the agreement of the tribunal before which it is defended - an extract of the Doctoral Thesis in Doctoral Notebooks).
