This article introduces the special issue on "Corporate Reputation: Being Good and Looking Good." Three of the five included articles help to reinforce a conclusion that "being good" and "looking good" are not dichotomous, mutually exclusive conditions. Rather, the two dimensions are linked in some kind of causal relationship for which continuing conceptual and empirical research is desirable. A fourth article concerns the reputational effects of the stock-option backdating scandal. The fifth article offers a critique of conventional approaches to defining and measuring reputation.

This special issue includes a selection of articles presented in this Symposium. But the topic as a whole was more than facing the crisis. It also included the idea of moving toward a new humanistic synthesis for business. Three articles included in this issues deal with the "separation thesis" from different perspectives and posit alternatives. The first rejects the "separation thesis" and states that if social scientists take natural science as a model, they may err in their predictions and may offer facile ethical views. The next article focuses on academic research on business ethics, which includes two perspectives: descriptive and normative. The third article, addresses the tenuous relationship between economics and ethics. The fourth article is a conceptual article which also tries to reconcile economic and moral arguments. The following two articles advance toward a new humanistic synthesis by considering the relational aspect of business relationships. Another article suggests that the dynamics of the structure of human action enable us to link the organizational level of institutions, norms, and culture of the firm which enhance and uphold the possibilities of individual action based on personal virtues. The last article deals with Corporate Social Responsibility, focusing on its technical and political perspectives.

The Home in the Digital Age is a set of multidisciplinary studies exploring the impact of digital technologies in the home, with a shift of emphasis from technology to the people living and using this in their homes. The book covers a wide variety of topics on the design, introduction and use of digital technologies in the home, combining the technological dimension with the cognitive, emotional, cultural and symbolic dimensions of the objects that incorporate digital technologies and project them onto people's lives. It offers a coherent approach, that of the home, which gives unity to the discussion. Scholars of the home, the house and the family will find here the connection with the problems derived from the use of domestic robots and connected devices. Students of artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, big data and other branches of digital technologies will find ideas and arguments to apply their disciplines to the home and participate fruitfully in forums where digital technologies are built and negotiated in the home. Experts from various disciplines psychologists and sociologists; philosophers, epistemologists and ethicists; economists; engineers, architects, urban planners and designers and so on and also those interested in developing policies for the home and family will find this book contains well-founded and useful ideas to focus their work.

Digital technologies have great impacts on all facets of human life at the home. This has also ethical consequences because technology acts as a mediator in the relationship between people and things, influencing the way we understand the reality and react to it. Ethics applies to people, not to robots or programs: ethical problems are met by users and, consequently, by designers and everyone involved in the production and dissemination of technologies. This chapter reviews the main ethical problems created by digital agents in the home, such as security, privacy, fairness, transparency, autonomy and sociability, and explains the channels through which ethical messages reach the people involved, in the form of codes of conduct and principles, with their potentialities and limitations, as well as the role of the virtues in the implementation of these principles.
