Resumen:
This article supports the use for catechesis of the series of the Christian Doctrine of Miguel de Santiago for the convent of San Francisco de Quito through the analysis of the sources on which it is based, especially the illustrated catechisms. After recalling the use of images in teaching doctrine in the Tridentine Church, it shows their concrete application in colonial America to focus on this masterpiece of the art of counter-reform.
