This study explores: a) what is being done by religions present in Catalonia (Spain) to address climate change; b) what the worldviews of the different religions are with regard to climate change, and, c) if commonalities exist between religions, which elements they have in common when addressing climate change. We focus on SDG 12 (sustainable consumption) and 13 (climate action), two of the 17 global goals that represent an urgent call for action. We employ a qualitative phenomenological methodology involving discussion groups of fourteen different religions present in Catalonia. The results show that the religions implement good practices that contribute to climate action, and all of them have laid down principles to take care of the planet. All groups hold that a change in values is required to address the climate crisis, and translate it into action. Moreover, a clear intention to establish interfaith partnerships for climate action is observed.

This article addresses the service of financial companies to society from the perspec-tive of the Catholic Social Teaching (hereinafter CST), specifically regarding conflicts of interest between banks and their customers. The article begins with a case based on interviews with professionals in the financial sector, which provides the context for the CST¿s contribution. The analysis of the aforementioned conflicts points to an apparent disconnect between service to society and service to customers. Thus, the bank would set aside the customer¿s interests in exchange for a better service to society through good results. This article presents the CST¿s normative framework to analyze this matter through some of the CST¿s principles: the centrality of the person, the respect for her dignity, and the orientation to the common good. These principles and the CST¿s ethical concept of service provide guidance in assessing these conflicts of interest. From an ethical point of view and according to CST, there cannot be a true service to society if the dignity of the client is not respected. It is necessary to review the organization¿s incentive policy and level of awareness about the importance of customer service. We end with recommendations related to conflicts of interest with clients.

We explore offshore outsourcing through the lenses of Catholic Social Teaching (CST). First, we review the outcomes of the 30-year debate in business ethics on issues related to offshore outsourcing. We then cluster authors into two groups-the justice-centered approach and the welfare-centered approach-corresponding to different perspectives on the ethical challenges of offshoring. In the second part, we present and apply the four fundamental principles of the CST (human dignity, subsidiarity, solidarity and the common good) to offshoring, in dialogue with the previous debate. The unity and interconnection among the CST's fundamental tenets provide a cohesive framework that integrates the points made by the justice-centered and welfare-centered approaches, while introducing the principle of solidarity, more focused on the worker as a person and their flourishing. CST also stresses the need to initiate processes oriented toward structural changes for the sake of human dignity and the common good.

The recent evolution of human work seems to signal a change of epoch that presents a challenge for theology. We urgently need a theological reflection that contributes, together with the other sciences, to addressing the challenges of contemporary work from a fully human perspective. This article justifies and presents a research project on recent theology of work which constitutes a starting point for the task mentioned. The article begins with a description of the present labor situation in the world and future prospects. Then, in the second part, it presents a preliminary review of recent theological literature in the fields of dogmatic, biblical, moral, and spiritual (practical) theology, pointing out possible avenues for further exploration. Some theological categories that can help respond to current challenges are suggested.

This article sheds light on the unity and continuity between the Christian mystery and the Catholic Social Teaching (CST) and, in a broader scope, between dogmatic and moral theology. It presents, in a synthetic manner, a theological foundation of the CST's principle of solidarity. This study highlights the Trinitarian roots of the principle of solidarity and connects it with creation, redemption, the Eucharist, the communion of saints and eternal life. It concludes that Christian identity inevitably requires a principle like solidarity for the sake of social order. Finally, the article emphasizes the unity between the CST's three main principles (human dignity, solidarity and subsidiarity) to help discern whether their implementation is compatible with Christian identity or not. This article is useful for scholars interested in the Christian foundations of solidarity.

The encyclical Sollicitudo rei socialis conceives the Catholic Social Teaching (CST) as an accurate formulation of a reflexion on the social problems, in the light of faith and the Church's tradition. This article explores the formulation of the principle of solidarity since it is hard to find a clear or complete definition of the principle itself in magisterial texts. The article harkens back to the complex origins of the principle of solidarity in CST and in the social sciences, and extracts the main contents pointed out by the CST. Next, the importance of counting on an accurate definition of the principle is explained and a definition is proposed in view of previous CST. Given the influence of the social sciences on the formulation of CST, the article finally highlights the convenience of purifying questionable elements when it comes to present and explain solidarity as a principle.

In this article, we shall attempt to lay down the parameters within which the practice of the virtues may be enabled in the field of finance. We shall be drawing from the three main sources, Aristotle, Catholic Social Teaching (CST) and MacIntyre, on which virtue ethics is based. The research question is what ought to be done for financial activities to truly contribute to eudaimonia or human flourishing (Aristotle), to the achievement of three distinct kinds of goods as required of virtue, ¿those internal to practices, those which are the goods of an individual life and those which are the goods of the community¿ (MacIntyre), and to ¿[help] man on the path of salvation¿ in the midst of complex network of relationships in modern societies (CST). These parameters could then be taken as conditions financiers ought to fulfill in order to live the virtues in their work and across different life spheres.

In his visit to the United States, Pope Francis stressed the Christian message on ecology, which includes a calling to an ¿ecological conversion¿. However, a recent paper on the influence of Christian religiosity on managerial decisions concerning the environment argues that Christian faith discourages managers¿ environmental-friendly decisions. Francis message on ecology is part of the Catholic Social Teaching (CST), which contains valuable contributions, but it is still to be known. We present a synthetic view of CST on ecology and its implications for businesses, shareholders and consumers, which can also interest non-Christians concerned with the natural environment. Ultimately, we want to explain why Christians involved in economic activity should be concerned with the natural environment. We offer a moral qualification of acts regarding the natural environment, and conclude with some observations for Christian churches and business schools.
