Eduardo Negueruela-Azarola is Research and Academic Director of ILCE Universidad de Navarra (Spain). Born in Sao Paulo (Brazil), he grew up in Spain, and studied a Licenciatura in Filosofía y Letras at Universidad de Valladolid (Spain). He completed graduate school in the US, obtaining and MA in Foreign Languages from West Virginia University and a PhD in Spanish, Applied Linguistics, and Sociocultural Theory in 2003 from the Pennsylvania State University. He was director of the Spanish Language Program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst for 3 years, and director of the Spanish Language Program at the University of Miami for 10 years. His research focuses on Spanish Second Language Teaching and Learning from a Sociocultural Theory perspective. He centers on topics such as new research methodologies for SLA, concepts as transformative tools for thinking, and creativity, identity, and storytelling in L2 learning and L2 teacher training.
