Salvador Martin Algarra MD, PhD, is a Consultant of Medical Oncology at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra (CUN) and a Professor of Oncology at the Medical School of the University of Navarra, in Pamplona (Spain).
After finishing his PhD and his specialization in Medical Oncology, Dr. Martín Algarra completed a clinical fellowship in Oncology/Hematology, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, in Omaha (US).
He has been member of the Directive Board of the CUN, President of its Educational Board, co-Director of the Cell Therapy Area of the University of Navarra and Director of the Department of Oncology on two periods, as well as one of the founders and the first President of the Spanish Melanoma Group (Grupo Español Multidisciplinar de Melanoma, GEM) (2008-2017).
Dr. Martin Algarra areas main of interest have been the therapeutic development of immunotherapy and targeted therapies in Oncology, mainly in melanoma, sarcoma, and rare tumors. He is also involved in other areas of clinical oncology as well as in translational research on immunology and biomarkers on solid tumors. His research work in those fields have been published in national and international oncology journals.
His teaching and scholar activities are focused on undergraduate and graduate education in Medical Oncology, as well as in mentoring the International Congress of Oncology for Students (COE). An educational activity organized annually by undergraduates under his guidance from 2004.
