I got my M.Eng. in Engineering Physics at the University of Liege in 1992 with a thesis in natural convection in fluid supervised by Prof. G. Lebon. I pursued my studies with a PhD in theoretical physics (Fluid Mechanics) on the Bénard-Marangoni problem at the University Complutense of Madrid (1997) under the supervision of Prof. M.G. Velarde. After my PhD, I spent five years of postdoctoral stays in several institutions (Technion, INOA Florence, U. Liege, Northeastern University Boston). I extended my expertise in nonlinear physics and high-performance computation.
Since 2001, I have been employed at the University of Navarra (Spain), where I obtained the Full professor rank in 2017. I have taught many different courses in Applied Mathematics, Physics, and Biomedical engineering. In 2018, I spent a sabbatical semester at the University of Utah with a Fulbright Fellowship.
Since 2006, my research interests have centred on biomedical applications. Specifically, I study the modelling of electrical and mechanical activity in the heart and a set of biomedical data (heart, eyes). Those research fields cover a wide range of numerical and computational disciplines, including numerical methods for ODEs, time discretization methods for PDEs, modelling of biophysics and biomedical processes, as well as advanced statistical methods.
