Resumen:
ICS A literary criticism of the theme of death in 16th-century Spanish chivalric romances, including "Amadís de Gaula" and "Las sergas de Espladián" by Garci Rodríguez de Montalvo, and "Florisel de Niquea" by Feliciano de Silva is presented. It is the author's view that this theme was used to achieve dynamism, transformation, as well as a way to minimize the importance of death due to low life expectancy. The notion of chronotope coined by Russian literary critic Mikhail Bakhtin is also explored
