The University of Navarra and 3P Biopharmaceuticals to enhance research and talent management in technology and production of new drugs
They have signed an agreement to promote digital transformation and professional training for the pharmaceutical industry
The University of Navarra and 3P Biopharmaceuticals have signed an agreement to promote training and research in technology and the production of new medicines, especially in the field of biotechnology.
This partnership agreement aims to refine the role and status of the pharmacist and other health science professionals, such as expert researchers, to strengthen ties with the academic world in the development of industrial knowledge and drug production, and to foster ongoing education and training.
The agreement also aims to maximize the use of new technologies and to promote the digital transformation of the pharmaceutical industry. The collaboration between the University of Navarra and 3P Biopharmaceuticals, a sector leader in biopharmacy process development and cell-therapy product manufacturing, is also framed by a commitment to contribute to society, and will draw on the work of an interdisciplinary group of experts with a range of specialist expertise and complementary knowledge.
The areas of interest of this agreement encompass new medicine and advanced therapies in R&D, including the development of biological drugs, cell and gene therapy, and manufacturing, analytical and dispensing technologies, so as to improve medicine safety, mitigate side effects, and target diseases that, until now, either have no cure or whose existing treatments provoke serious side effects.Boosting Navarre's strategic commitment to health
For Iciar Astiasarán, the Vice-President of Research at the University of Navarra, “COVID-19 and the development of several types of vaccines in record time have highlighted the importance of a sound healthcare system as well as research and innovation in drug development. We are confident that the agreement we have signed with 3P Biopharmaceuticals will serve to enhance Navarre's strategic commitment to health for the benefit of everyone in the region.
According to 3P Biopharmaceuticals CEO, Dámaso Molero, “through this agreement 3P shows its support for technical-scientific talent that contributes knowledge to the dynamic and growing biotechnology sector. I hope that the result of this partnership will continue to add value to Navarre and the Spanish biopharmaceutical sector”.
The University of Navarra and 3P Biopharmaceuticals also want to promote biopharmaceutical degree and master’s programs for which awards and scholarships will be set up. The pharmaceutical company and the University will jointly organize activities, courses, seminars and scientific conferences. The agreement has been signed for a period of five years. 3P Biopharmaceuticals undertakes to finance the necessary equipment and materials and to make its facilities available to the University. The University, for its part, will be responsible for publishing the results and advances arising from this partnership agreement.
