Msgr. Ramon Herrando

Msgr. Ramon Herrando is the Vice Chancellor of the University. He was born in Barcelona in 1944. He has a doctorate in Theology from the University of Navarra, where he won the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. He specializes in History of the Church in the Modern Era. He works closely with the Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer Documentation and Study Center, and is the author of Los años de Seminario de Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer en Zaragoza (1920-1925) (Rialp, Madrid 2002).

He holds a Licentiate degree in Biology from the University of Santiago de Compostela (1970). After attending bachillerato in Bilbao, he kept close contact with university life, first as assistant director of Monterols Student Residence (Barcelona, 1962-1964) and later as director of La Estila Student Residence (Santiago, 1964-1971).

Since 1974 he has been a member of the Spanish Council of the Prelature of Opus Dei. In 2002 he was appointed Regional Vicar of the Prelature in Spain.
