in Media Management and Economics. Albarran is one

For nine years, he has worked as editor of the very
prestigious Journal of Media
Economics and
has been recently appointed on the same position
for the International Journal
on Media Management.
At the same time, he is employed as chair of the
Department of Radio, Television and Film at University
of North Texas.
Alan B. Albarran is the author
of six books: Management of
Electronic Media, Media

and Media Markets.
His last work has been to act as primary editor of

including Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Sweden,
Finland, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Mexico.
In the spring of 2005 he lectured in China for the
first time, and next June he will lecture with a
Fulbright grant in Moscow State University.
Albarran taught a five-days
seminar on the fundamentals of media economics. Topics
covered included concentration, competition, globalization,
industry segments and the changing conditions of
technology. He stated that "media
firms are increasingly functioning in a global environment". Consequently,
"globalization will continue
to be a primary goal of major media firms", he pointed out. Finally, he
concluded that understanding and appreciation of
other cultures and values are critical for globalization
to be successful.
As well as the School of Communications,
Albarran and his wife Beverly, had the opportunity
to visit IESE Business School at Madrid Campus and
the Castle of Xavier, the place in Navarra where
St. Frances Xavier was born five hundred years ago.
Albarran´s next research step will consist on the creation of a new
center for the study of hispanic media at the United States of America. |
