ACADEMIC CALENDAR FOR 2006-2007

1- The academic year 2006/2007 will begin on September 25, 2006 and will terminate September 7, 2007. Classes begin on Monday, September 25. The date for the official invocation ceremony for the academic year will be posted over the summer.

2- The ordinary period of classes extends from September 25, 2006 through June 23, 2007, and from August 22 to September 7, 2007. All the days included between these dates, excluding holidays, are considered to be available for academic activities.


FIRST SEMESTER: From September 25 through January 17.
Examinations: From January 18 through February 8.

SECOND SEMESTER: From February 12 through June 2.
Examinations: From June 4 through June 23.

Special examination period: from August 22 through September 7.

With prior authorization by the President's Office, certain degree programs, due to special circumstances, may change these dates.

3- Within the ordinary period of classes, the follow periods are vacations for students:

  • Christmas: December 23 through January 7.
  • Holy Week and Easter: From April 4 through 15.

4- The ordinary non-teaching period, which coincides with the student summer vacations, extend from June 25 through August 21, 2007.

5- The following activities not related to ordinary teaching continue without regard to the calendar of teaching periods: research, short courses, special training, continuing education, summer courses, etc. The practical courses of the Diplomatures of Nursing and Human Nutrition and Dietetics also follow their own distinct schedule.

6- The following days during the ordinary teaching period are holidays:


a) For the entire University: All Sundays and the following Feast Days:

  • October 12: Nuestra Señora del Pilar
  • November 1. All Saints
  • December 6. Constitution Day
  • December 8. Immaculate Conception
  • March 19. St. Joseph
  • May 1. Labor Day
  • June 26. St. Josemaría Escrivá, Founder of the University

b) For the Centers in Pamplona:

  • November 29. St. Saturninus
  • December 4. Celebration of St. Francis Javier (Moved from Sunday the 3rd)

c) For the Centers in San Sebastian: January 20, St. Sebastian.

d) For individual Centers:

  • School of Medicine: October 18, St. Lucas.
  • School of Sciences: November 15, St. Albert Magnus.
  • School of Nursing and ISSA: November 17, Santa Isabel de Hungary.
  • School of Pharmacy: December 8, Immaculate Conception.
  • School of Architecture and Technical Architecture: February 24, celebration of Our Lady of Bethlehem in her flight to Egypt (January 25) (Architecture) and St. Juan Ortega (June 2) (Technical Architecture).
  • Schools of Law and Canon Law: January 7, St. Raimundo de Peñafort.
  • School of Communication: January 24, St. Francis de Sales.
  • School of Theology and Ecclesiastical School of Philosophy: January 28, St. Thomas Aquinas.
  • Modern Languages Institute: February 14, SS. Cyril and Methodius.
  • School of Engineering: March 19, St. Joseph.
  • School of Economics and Business Administration: April 5, St. Vicente Ferrer.
  • School of Humanities and Social Sciences: April 26, St. Isidro.

Any suspension of classes for the University as a whole must be authorized by the President, or, if the suspension only affects certain centers and not others, by the respective deans and directors with the approval of the President. The order suspending classes must be published on the bulletin board of the center.

Each Dean or Director may authorize the suspension of classes for a single day, for the students of their center, for the purpose of holding academic ceremonies.

The feast days of the Patrons of the centers may be moved to other dates if the Governing Council of the Center is in agreement.
