In the latest University Annual Report, we find the following statistics about the 2006-2007 academic year:

  • 15,222 enrolled students (9,484 undergraduates, 1,063 in doctoral programs, 4,675 in Master's and other programs).
  • 814 professors and 867 associate professors.
  • 1034 professionals in administration and services

Students:
Geographic and Socioeconomic Origins
- Undergraduates: 33.3% of Spanish students come from Navarra; 29% from the Basque Country, and remaining 31.2% are from the other autonomous communities of Spain. 6.5% of enrolled students are from other countries.
- Graduate students: 27.6% of doctoral students are foreigners, with 52.3% of students in Master's programs and 13% of students in specializations and other programs coming from abroad.
- In total, the 1,737 foreign students studying at the University make up more than 11.4% of the student body.

- 54.5% of the students are from families with mid-level incomes, 33.2% from low-income families, and 12.3% from high-income families.

Scholarships and Other Aid to Students
- 53.9% of students are from middle-income families, 34.7% from low-income families and 11.3% from high-income families (0.1% unclassified)
- 5,555,171.59 euros in student aid was provided via 1,631 scholarships to undergraduates. Of this amount, the University provided 179,031.3 euros and the Alumni Association financed 94 Alumni Navarrenses Grants totalling 475,600 euros. In addition, 640,052.31 euros were dedicated to scholarships for collaboration in departments and services.
- In addition, the University, drawing upon its own resources, provided tuition exemptions and discounts amounting to a total of 7,270,677 euros.
- 659 graduates received research grants with a total value of 6,083,885.09 euros. Out of this amount, the Association of Friends of the University of Navarra provided 258 scholarships for graduate students, for a total of 2,330,683.41 euros

Students Who Completed Their Studies

- In 2006, 1,751 students received undergraduate diplomas, 151 defended their doctoral dissertations and 458 obtained a Master's degree.

Alumni Association

- The Alumni Association, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, has a membership of more than 21,000 students and graduates, in more than 90 countries.
- The Association has 52 Regional Chapters, 26 of which are in Spain and 26 in other countries.

Internships and Job Offers:

- 3.319 students performed internships in businesses and governmental institutions.
- 3,753 job offers were received and 332 graduates obtained their first employment thanks to the Program of Introduction to the Business World.

Exchange Programs

- 361 students performed studies abroad, and 168 students from other countries came to the University via exchange programs.
- In addition, 61 MBA students from the IESE studied in other universities, and 69 students from other countries came to study at the IESE.


Research:

PIUNA (Research Plan of the University of Navarra)

Dedicates 2,017,967.21 euros to 9 research projects. Through annual grant programs, there are 60 projects in progress, with a total budget of 1,194,982.8 euros.

Sponsored Projects:

Between July of 2006 and June of 2007, public institutions provided 3,207,757 euros in order to finance 57 research projects. In addition, the University Foundation of Navarra, through its own resources and the help of numerous individuals and institutions, financed part of the PIUNA projects.

CIMA (Center for Applied Medical Research)

Currently there are seven international research projects funded and in progress. To date, the research performed at the CIMA has resulted in more than 30 Spanish and international patent applications, and the publication of articles in more than 100 scientific journals.

ICT (Navarran Institute of Science and Technology)

Provided services to more than 200 businesses and has signed more than 100 contracts for research and technological assistance. IT billed more than 5.3 million euros. In addition, it managed 45 active inventions (including those of the CIMA), which have resulted in 213 active patent registrations worldwide. Six patents have been conceded and a total of 64 applications are ongoing in various countries.

CEIT (Gipuzkoa Center for Technical Studies and Research)

In 2006 the CEIT had an income of 11.42 million euros. Among its sources of income, R&D under contract made up 53%, and grants from public institutions made up 46%, of which 37% came from the Basque Government, 4% from the Provincial Government of Gipuzkoa, 14.8% from the Spanish Government and 8.3% from the European Union.

Libraries

In 2006 a total of 39,443 works were added to the library collections (13,936 via purchase and 25,507 via donation or exchange). The investment in acquisitions was 2,577,809 euros and the library collections reached a total of 969,466 volumes, 19,142 printed journals and 15,262 electronic journals.

Publications

In 2006, the Publications Service published nearly 80 volumes of the journals of the Schools and Centers of the University. EUNSA (The University of Navarra Press) published 68 new titles and 46 revised editions.

University Hospital

Employed 524 doctors and 1,902 nurses and other professionals. The Hospital provided 136,677 outpatient consultations, 13,830 hospitalizations and 8,959 surgeries. It obtained the prize for excellence in hospital quality for 2007, awarded by the Avedis Donabedian Foundation.


Activities

Congresses and Awards

- 29 national and international congresses were held, and 145 specialization courses and continuing education courses were provided.
- The University was awarded the 2005 INA Prize for its work in promoting Croat culture abroad, awarded by INA Industrial Petroleum and the Croat Cultural Club of Zagreb. In addition, 50 professors, doctors and employees received awards of various kinds.
-11 students and graduates, and 9 departments and research units received award.
- 19 undergraduate students received the National End of Studies Award for academic year 2004-2005; six of these were first prizes, four were second prizes and nine were honorable mentions.

Solidarity

500 students participated in the solidarity activities undertaken by Students for Social Action (UAS). In addition, numerous students participated in development projects in Burkina Faso, Uganda and Kenya.
