ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (ALL FIELDS) UNIVERSITY OF NAVARRA
Position Type: Assistant Professor, Tenure Track (3+3)
Categories/Specialties: Any field
Deadline: Rolling application
Interested candidates must send their applications electronically through the Job Market Website.
The School of Economics and Management of the University of Navarra is seeking candidates for the Tenure Track (3+3) position of Assistant Professor (equivalent to "Ayudante Doctor") for the academic year 2018-2019. All fields of specialization will be considered, but we are particularly interested in researchers in the areas of Financial Accounting / Banking, Personnel Management, Computer Science / Big Data, Finance, and International Economics. The primary selection criteria will be the potential of the candidate as researcher and teacher in the various programs that the School offers.
The initial contract will be for a year, annually renewable during a total of six years. After three years, a first evaluation will be performed. If the evaluation is positive, then renewals will continue. During this period of six years, a final decision will be made about offering a formal, long-term contract (although any assistant professor may request that this decision be taken prior to the end of the full six-year term). Evaluations and decisions will be based on the research quality of the candidate and on his or her satisfactory performance in teaching tasks.
The normal teaching load is 120 hours/year, with the possibility to concentrate in one semester. Some administrative tasks also form part of the normal work load, although recently-hired professors are typically assigned lighter tasks.
Classes are taught in Spanish and English. Professors whose native language is not Spanish are generally assigned to the English program. All Doctoral courses are exclusively taught in English. The University offers courses, via its Institute of Modern Languages, to help those candidates who wish to learn or improve their Spanish.
The University of Navarra is a private university: the salaries are comparable to those of other Spanish and European universities, in countries such as France or Great Britain.
Interested candidates must send their applications electronically. Please include a cover letter, an up-to-date curriculum vitae, a publishable journal article as a research sample, and a short essay explaining what you know about the University of Navarra. Candidates must also provide three letters of recommendation, sent to us by persons who know the candidate and can give us information about his or her capacity and competence. The names and contact information of the people who write the letters (preferentially academics) should be included in the curriculum vitae. Interviews will be held during the Symposium of the Spanish Economic Association (Barcelona, December 14-16, 2017) and the 2018 Annual Meeting of the AEA (Philadelphia, January 5-7, 2018). The deadline for receiving applications is November 30, 2017. The deadline for sending application is December 6, 2016. After the interviews, selected candidates will be invited to visit the School and give a presentation about their current research.
